flip grind and spring 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I know springs have been discussed in the last few days a lot, I have been itching to do the flip and grind with a progressive shock, i just tilted the floor boards a little bit the other day using the tech article(which will definitely lead to more floorboard grinding when lowered) and i do a lot of two up with my gf and id say we weigh probably around 350lb together...Is this a wise decision? I know it is reversible i just don't want to spend the time doing it if others have had bad exerperiences with lots of two up rides with the flip
thanks

Do the flip and turn up the shock to max stiffness. Try it out (without a passenger) and see how you like the scrapping.

If it's acceptable then get a heavier spring, it should help limit bottoming out with two up.

thanks doc, I actually bought a whole shock assembly from a roadstar warrior and i hear it has a stiffer spring so i may try that as well, i hear that i may hit my bag mounts on the belt guard if i lower it, is that true or am i making that up

I ran the entire gambit with the flip. I did the flip...not bad solo, but hit with a passenger. Added a progressive spring...made it better, but still not happy. Ended up flipping back and lowered it with Barons longer dog bones instead. Sits nice and handles well and BTW...our combined weight is the same as you guys.

Hope my experience helps!

Hey Silvasilv,I did the flip and grind last week.Love the look. I did find bottoming out more frequent riding solo.... just maxed out stock spring stiffness but won't ride her till next week.(just had the big "v" operation this morning)...will let you know how that worked out...the spring, not the "v"... Just for your info, wifey and I are about 300 together but she rarely rides with me.

Lowered mine and bottom out a lot. A heavier spring is in my future, but at almost 300lbs I probably needed it anyway. And yes, you have to relearn cornering or get used to scraping.

Re:flip grind and spring 5 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I am beginning to think again about lowering my bike, i can touch the ground flat footed and its not really an issue, it was more for aesthetics but doesnt seem worth it now...I do already have a spare relay arm that i ground down to fit for the flip, i may just do it if i am bored one day and have a few hours and some spare hands but doesnt seem very likely
if i do do it i will be happy to share pics and/or horror stories
thanks guys

ps this just makes me want an air ride that much more!!!

Yes, you guys pretty well talked me out of it too. I want my cornering clearance. And I'm not sure I really want to sit any shorter when I ride. Thanks.
