Man that sucks. The guys I run with wouln't have let it happen. As soon as the guy even made a move toward my bike they would have at least started screaming, if not kicking.

Same here. Hope it is just the clear coat, then Doc's suggestion would be the ticket.

Hammersly take you bike to a body shop and get an estimate to fix the tank. Like Doc said if its in the clear coat perhaps that can be buffed. If it's deeper you might have to repaint the clear coat, and worse case you may have to have the tank repainted. This guy who did the damage should be responsible for any costs. I would make severaly copies of that estimate and give it your neighbor down the street and tell him that he can give it to his friend. I would make sure that I got the name and address of your neighbors friend and if push comes to shove I would take him to small claims court. I had to take a motorcycle shop to court once. They thought it would be ok to grind away the candy apple powder coat and grind into my frame to get the top of the transmission off rather then take the primary apart and then loosen the trans up from it's mount. Saved them time but cost them $2,500.00 in small claims court. No one should ever touch another persons motorcycle without permission and that includes sitting on it! I really can't believe that someone who was present didn't tell that moron to back off and don't touch your bike.

I'm curious what the guy's reaction to the damage he caused was. Was he apologetic at all? In Ohio, what he did constitutes Criminal Mischief and it would hold up in both criminal & civil court. I'm guessing that other states have similar laws on the books just with different names. It all depends on how hard you want/need to push to get him to make things right. His actions should not cost you a single dime...It's all on him. Maybe I'm being a little harsh but that's my 2 cents.

Best way I've found is to use the guys head to rub it off....just apply a little pressure to the back of his head and rub untill most of the skin is gone from his forehead. Then wipe it off with a clean towel.

I concur.

That stinks! My best friend did this to my back in 00 on my new LC1500. I lived with it , as I know he would give his life for me. That being said , knucklehead here needs to see how he can help you get things back to good , as he was personally responsible for the damage to your bike. A little WD40 on a rag and a quick wipe will also tell you what kind of damage is done , if it disappears, you might have been spared. BB

well from what i've been told by the yami dealer and other people it looks to be only the clear coat. This numb nuts who did this called today and did offer his appology, but it sure felt like an oops my bad dude. I asked for his info and he hung up at that point. the guy donwn the street who brought the dumb a$$ will not call me back. Hopefully it's just a clear coat apply and buff job. I have an appt with a paint guy who knows my little brother next week. Every one of my friends that saw dip stick pulled him away from the bike, but the damage was done and the was the showed hime the door, he did not stick around. I'll keep you posted on the what the paint guy tells me.

Was at bike night last Wednesday, a guy rolled up on a VTX with some nice pinstriping on it and.. well, just a real clean looking bike. Anyway, on his side covers was a sticker reading "If you value your life as much as I value this bike, you won't touch it." I like it.
