in theory, it is a dry sump system, but the crank case does hold a small amount, that's why we have two drain plugs.

Well , the plugs are the right color , that's good! Oil can have a slight fuel smell , as the gas and oil are only separated by the pistons (therefore some gas residual can get by the pistons and into the oil).

Big Bear, I thought we had a dry sump oil system...which keeps the oil out of the crank case area? I looked in the Roadstar Manual and could swear that there was a diagram showing where and how the oil flows but couldn't find the page ...I thought it just returned to the tank?...but then how would the pistons and cylinder walls get oiled if that were the case? It would have to pool in the crankcase area?

Here is a little reading for ya

Dry Sump

very good guys, I think it may have been just a panic attack. I took it to a guy to ask about a paintjob and he said he smelled gas that is what started it all the yamy mechanic said its fine. It is running awesome. Oh and the paint job I want is $2800.00 that seems like alot for a bike. But hey they get it. Fifty Yet
