Another stupid oil question 5 Years, 8 Months ago
Just hit the local WalMart, they had Mobil 1 (with the gold cap) 15/50 Extended Performance synthetic oil. Is this stuff gonna be okay? There's too much info on oil and filters and it's overloading my brain. Not that that's a hard thing to do.

My understanding is that the Gold Cap is a replacement for the Red Cap. It still does not have the words "Energy Conserving" in the API symbol.

Stuff is OK.

Glad to hear it, since I put 4 quarts (and a smidge for luck) of the stuff into my bike last night. Took it out for a 50-mile ride tonight, and the engine really DOES run quieter. I gotta tell you, after AIS removal, bigger air box, better pipes, rejetting carb and few sundry other items (ALL of which I learned of here!), I am really happy with the way the bike is running! For now...

"For now..."

That "now" doesn't last long.
