Replace Rear Brake Pads 1 Year, 4 Months ago

It's time to replace the rear brake pads. Couple questions. Are the rear the same as the front? Know of a good place to get them? Any other info is always good.

They are much differnt then the front. I got the EBC replacement pads out here in Cal. at a place called Cycle Parts West for $19.99 plus tax. The EBC are priced lower then the Yami ones (Sumoto) and last much longer. The Yami dealers sell the EBC's but do not advertise it as they naturally want you to buy the high price OEM.

Guess I'll call around tomorrow. Thanks for the info. Hope someone local has them. Don't want to get into the rotor. Might not have to mess with the pipes, they are quite low. Does the caliper have to come off or can they be slipped in after the pins are spread?

The caliper can stay on. Just watch the level in the master cylinder when pushing the pistons back in. Your right your pipe looks like it's lower and will save some time.
Bru I guess I should have been alittle clearer The front and rear pads are replaced the same way, just different look. The part # for the rear is ya-4wm-w0046-00. The front is ya-5vn-w0045-00.
anyway sorry if I misled you. GS.

OK, one last question. Logic tells me the pads should be the same for the Road Star, R* Silverado, R* Silverado Midnight, etc... Maybe different for different years. Sound right???

Hey bru, I don't mean to thread-jack, but was just curious about your carb settings. I just moved back to Longmont 2 weeks ago and think I'm close, but you know how some of us like to tinker! Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Greysnake.
RoadBurner, I bought mine here so I believe it was set up for altitude. However, I just rode through Death Valley, parts were 100' below sea level and she ran great.. Basically. I don't know what the carb settings are. Runs great so I don't mess with it.
On another note, The DAV run is this Saturday, July 5th. Starts at High Country HD. Some friends and I are gonna meet there at about 10:00.
