Is it a big deal to replace the crappy yami spokes to chrome ones?

Should the stealer do it?

Bushr,
This is just my opinion, but I'd say replacing the spokes is best left to the professionals, unless you've got experience doing it and have the proper equipment to true the rim.

I replaced mine several years ago on my Vulcan. I ordered the spokes (went with polished stainless) from Wheel Works and had the local independent shop relace it for me. Can't remember what the spokes cost, but the shop only charged $75 to do the work. (That was for the front wheel only.)

Another option (if they still offer it) is to send your wheel to Wheel Works and they will relace it and seal the rim so you can run tubeless tires.

You definately need to have spoke work done by someone who knows what he is doing! And that does not necessarily mean a dealer! In my shop I quite often see wheels that are warped or egg shapped. I have seen wheels that are so bad that they cannot be balanced; you run it on the machine and do what it says and run it again, and instead of showing good it says to do something else. You do that and it says to do something else yet! When I balance a wheel that does not show good on the second run and you can see that it is either warped or not round then I just tell the owner to take it somewhere and get it trued.
