Avon Tire gets an 'attaboy' from me. 2 Years, 6 Months ago
I had been seeing on some threads here and on my Venture forum about issues with cracking on some Avon tires. Everything from tiny slit looking cracks to the side of the tire having a dryrotted look.
Well, I checked my Venoms a few weeks ago and sure enough my rear tire had what looked like little slits cut all the way around about 1/4" from the rim. And it seems it must have been a bad batch from what I can tell. My front tire has a slightly older date and it's fine.
I emailed Avon just what I typed above and got a reply that they would be happy to "work out something" with me but that I needed to go back to the dealer and it needed to be handled through them. I rode to the dealer (independent) on my lunch hour and as soon as I got back to work I had a call from the dealer saying Avon was going to take care of the tire. I then had an email waiting from Avon saying the same thing. I had the tire put on Friday. The tire was at no cost but, of course the dealer had to charge for the install. Couldn't have worked out much better!

Good to see a company stand behind their product.

I guess I better go out now and check mine. This is the first I have heard about Avons having a problem.

Best that I can tell it was just one batch made a couple years ago or so.

I have a set of avon ganster tires on my 03 roadstar midnight. Had them for the past 1.5 yearts and haven't had an issue. Is the issue related to a specific model tire?

Best of luck
