Yes, the $700 was just for parts, manifold, shift forks and the other gears. And they told me it would be 150 to do the oil pump gear. That's a total of $850

It's almost laughable. I'd be worried having them putting it back together at this point.

Personally I wouldnt even let them do the oil pump at this point. Why let them get one penny of your money when they were knowingly trying to rip you off on parts you dont need! Just my .02

Well, I guess they all suck, and not just Yamaha dealers. I've had bad experiences with three in central Arkansas. 1) When I went pumpless I went to get the Grizzly valve, I had to explain what I was doing and he said it wont work and I could't bring the parts back, and I said OK and it's worked fine. Then I brought up iridium plugs. The hot shot teenage mechanic who looked like he was still in high school said I couldn't do that. They would'nt fit, and if they did it wouldn't run. They only work in high reving engines. 2)I had a ATV with only 22 miles on it when the shifter broke. When I buy something I don't abuse it because I can't afford for it not to last. I took it in under warranty. When I picked it up the "chief" mechanic said I know what you did. What? I know what you did! What? Abuse is not under warrany, but I made it good. You should have bought it here and there wouldn't be any problem! I said I got from the other guys because they were $800 cheaper. He said you need to go and don't come back because I won't cover anything else. 3) My tranny recall. I was only informed about the 3-4 week wait on the parts after the bike was in the shop. I asked about the oil pump upgrade, they said there wasn't one I would have to pay extra labor. I did'nt want to argue and piss of the guy who was going to be inside my engine. I declined them selling me a new battery to replace the new one I had, and of course that was noted on the work order. Luckily they didn't try so sell me anything else. When I picked it up I saw how nasty the shop was. The parking lot had less dirt than the work benches and the floor. When I signed off I asked what work was done. He said its on the paperwork. Did you replace the rings? Whatever the work order said. What did you replace? Whatever the work order said. I loaded her up and left. Intake and exhaust were leaking, exhaust bolt was stripped, K&N filter was crushed, belt loose, and rear tire out of alignment. I just fixed it myself. Sorry for the rant. I think its all dealers, no matter what brand. We have a generation of few mechanics, many parts changers, and bad service.

I would definitely go early enough to get a test ride in when you pick it up, and go over it with a fine toothed comb. 20 bucks says there's hand and finger prints all over it!

I am going to make sure it is in the same condition as when I dropped it off. And if not, then I will def. raise some hell. I called them this morning to tell them to put it back together. Didn't seem like he was to happy about it. He was still trying to get me to buy the parts. And then I asked when I could pick it up, and he said " well since we got off that job, I don't know if I can get my guy back on it today. It will probably be tomorrow night or Friday morn". Hopefully they don't just rush getting it back together.
