Vendor Concern Boats.Net 1 Year ago
Have a vendor issue. I ordered a Starter relay (4YR-81940-02-00 STARTER RELAY ASSY) (Warrior Relay) through Boats.net. That was 3 weeks ago. Today I call to find out where the part is. They tell me that my credit card was declined, which is a crock because I just called AMEX and there was no declining of the card. After letting them know that the card was not declined they said I need to talk to someone else.

After finaling getting to talk to a manager (placed on hold for 20 minutes), he said that you can no longer order motorctcle parts through Boats.net even though the parts are listed and available for other than motorcycle applications. He said they cancelled my order (and didn't inform me ) and I would have to place the order through PowerSPortsPlus.com which is now their motorcycle site. He said they will no longer sell Yamaha or other manufacturer parts for motorcycles through Boats.net. He said he could place the order for me. I said great, then he told me the price...It went from $49.89 to $61.29 which is a 23% increase (because it is for a motorcycle) and shipping went from $6.95 to $10.50 which is a 51% increase in shipping (because it is for a motorcycle) . I then went to PowerSportsPlus.com and saw that the price was actually $54.29 (10% increase)!

This is BS if you ask me. They are changing the website and increasing the prices because it is a motorcycle part??? Guess they think we are a bunch of suckers. Guess I can add another to my scumbag vendor list... Don't mind price increases just don't lie to me and tell me to go away happy.

That's BS to lie about your CC, find someone else besides PowerSportsPlus.com if there affiliated with Boats.net.

I had a similar issue with them. Ordered a part. Waited 3 weeks and finally called to get a status. They said I owed them .19 more for the bolt I ordered. When I explained that I had gone through their web site, ordered the item, paid immediately (from their web site calculations) and had a confirmation number. They then informed me that the price had increased prior to shipping. They held the part from shipping because they say I owed them .19 more. WHAT?

It took 30 minutes to convince them to "waive" the .19 and ship it. They made me feel like it was my fault and they were doing me a favor.

Personally, I will never order from them again. Your experience doesn't suprise me. Horrific service.

I know, I have ordered from them before and although it was real late in getting to me (which is why I waited so long to call) the parts always came. I don't know what is going on with them but from the horses mounth (or maybe another animal) he said "they will no longer sell Yamaha or other manufacturer parts for motorcycles through Boats.net". Don't know how they can tell if it is for a motorcycle or another application but that is his story and he is sticking to it. I will move on to another vendor that I don't have to interpret their response or wonder if I am going to get my product. Your milage may vary.

I already had a poor experiance with the Ebay relay (would cut out after about 4-5 mins of the bike running) so that is why I ordered the OEM part. If anybody wants a free Ebay relay just let me know (No warranty and I wouldn't advise using the replacement they sent me).

Got my OEM Warrior relay from CheapCycleParts.com. Haven't had a problem with them yet, but I'll be testing the almost-brand-new relay in the morning to see if it has already gone bad.

Just took Boats.net off of my vendor list.

EDIT: Just checked the prices at CheapCycleParts.com. The price has gone up $10 since February. The Warrior relay is now $61.00 each.

Hate to hear that. I've gotten several parts from them and never had a problem. But if their going to start that kind of crap I'll go else where.

Use Yamaha Sports Plaza or Stadium Yamaha. Great prices... if they have them in stock. If not. Order it from Tim Bondurant. (aka Metric Magic) he is typically hands down the cheapest *SHIPPED* prices you will find.
