Sounds like a great idea,.........but what Kiosks are you referring to? I've either never seen one, or totally ignored them. The only thing I can think of that sounds like that is the terminal in the customer pick-up area.

Also, is it tough to do this alone......ie: no other person steadying the bike as you lift it? Probably a silly "?" but it's stuck in my head that just at the lift point it might be a little unstable.

I slide the jack under the bike from the left side. I right the bike and then pump the jack with my foot.

Works for me.

I would guess the kickstand side, at least that is how I go about it,, I have to put my back tire up on a chunk of 2x6 as well, or the jack won't fit...

I bought the red one and it blew oil all over my bike the 2nd time I jacked it up ...fortunately I was still in the shop when it decided to go down ...it had othe problems before the first jack I had to add a bolt that was missing to hold the piston in place.....took it back got the yellow jack and have had no problems so far ... The last time I looked the reviews were getting better hopefully Craftsman realized their reputation was taking a small beating even when I read the bad reviews it was a craftsman tool so I ignored them...Coug

When specifying 'left side' or 'right side' it always means as you're sitting on the bike. If you're looking at the front of the bike, left side is still the bike's left side not your left side.

I bought a aluminum jack ay Harbor freight, best investment I ever made. It was not cheap but it is light weight and slides right under my R* and my wifes 650 V*. Slide it under just behind the kickstand and start pumping it up. The bike will roll away from you as you begin to pump it up then once the other side of the frame hits the jack it just goes up nice and straight. I have acyually left my bike up on a jack for several days and it does not drop one bit. Even if the jack did let go, it would land right back onto the kickstand(I have tried releasing it fast to see what would happen). The cost is higher then the craftsman but the quality is also higher, it is light weight and easy to move around. I got it on sale for $99.00(marked down from $159.99) and then paid the extra 30 dollars for the 2 year waranty(I know these are usually a rip off, but after hearing all the horror stories of these types of jacks, I thought it would be worth it). I love that jack it makes anything I do with the bikes so much easier. The bike is stable and straight up and down. When I want to polish all the chrome it goes on the jack, even if I am just washing the bike I put it on the jack, that way I can reach all sides without getting on my hands and knees.

Yes I saw a LOT of 1 star reviews at Sears.com. Then again, it looks to me like everyone selling the $59-89 jacks are essentially selling the same jack with a different paint scheme.

Well, at least the Chinese economy is on the way UP!.

I had looked there but only saw the $59 one. That one looks MUCH beefier. I'll have to watch for another sale on it. How long ago did you find it for $99?

I got by on this oil change by running the front tire up on an auto ramp - otherwise my pan wouldn't get under the bike. A pain, but it worked out ok.
