Drive/Clutch Slippage 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago

Ever since my last oil-change I've noticed that my gearing doesn't seem as "connected" as it did prior. Maybe the timing is just a coincidence.
The feeling when I rev it deep into a gear is like the clutch is trying to "catch up" with the motor, or almost like it's slipping until it grabs on eventually. It happens most in the higher gears, and I not much if any in 3rd and below. I DO ride the motor, downshifting into stops, but not hard, and not excessively.
Advice? She's a 2002 Silverado, just a hair under 40K miles, 24K of those since I got her 2 years ago.
Thanks in advance,
DKLAZ

Hmmm, what kind of oil did you use at the last change? Our bikes have wet clutches and share the motor oil. Certain oils will cause the clutches to slip and wear out faster (I do believe).

From what you discribe your clutch is slipping. I was having the same problem on my 2000 with 68,000 miles on it. The R* clutch pressure plate is very weak from the factory so here is what I did to cure the problem.

I could not believe how much better my bike runs now. I had no idea how much power was being lost due to slipping until I had the Barnetts Pressure plate & sping kit. I pull a trailer so I also purchased a set of heavier springs from Barnetts and alternated the stock spring with a heavy spring on the pressure plate. If I can be of any help with other questions on your clutch contact me at hardone2get@hotmail.com

Last change I put in Lucas 20/50, stopped right at the 4 qt mark, like I;ve read here. Is there a chance that being a little low on oil could cause the slippage? I "might" have spilled a little when I started her up without the dipstick in place to try to get the oil to flow back to the transfer case. A really dummy move, but I never connected it to my clutch operation.

I use the Mobil 1 20W50, but plenty of others use either Amsoil or Royal Purple and seem to have no trouble whatsoever.
