I had one with suction cups. Took my girlfriend out for a ride and haven't seen her or the seat since!

I like the T-shirt that reads, "If you can read this, the wife fell off!"

good point. However most American Ironhorse's that I've seen are sitting in showroom floors or garages. They're mostly "pretty" bikes aren't they?

Trust me, once you get all 4 cups down and secure. There's no lateral nor posterior/anterior movement at all. Combine that with the fact that you've got someone sitting on it 99.9% of the time while the bike is in motion and this thing isn't coming off.

Now, you may loose your passenger due to other reasons (fell asleep, some sort of spastic attack, rear end collision, wheelie, insert your reason HERE), but the seat coming loose won't be one of them. Someone sitting on the seat keeps the cups compressed and any significant reduction in weight on the seat will only serve to cause the cups to relax thereby increasing the hold it has on the fender. There's no slip-sliding going on here.

But, like everything else in life, this mod. will not be for everyone, so use it or not at your discretion.

I wouldn't be so sure. Jen's posterior has quite a bit of movement in recent years. (I'm so glad she doesn't read this forum).

We've been using that setup for years on all of our customs.(its included with the bike) Never had an issue with movement and we also sell pillion seats seperately and ready to go.

Are there holes in the fender for the hardware that held the seat on? Dumb question I know but this is my first metric and I have not had the seat off. If so, what do you do with the holes? Plug them with something?
