I wanted to change mine also, tried the washer thing on the filler hole plug and it bent. Then got a bit nervous and left it,whoever must have reafed it pretty tight.I guess the point being I don't want to burr the slot on the plug. Always open to suggestions, may have to grind something down??

Try to open it after a ride when the case is hot. Cooling down the plug with compressed are could help.

I had a tough time getting mine off. It already had some damage to the slot by the previous owner/mechanic...

I grabbed the washer with pliers close to the plug and held on tight. It finally gave up and let go.

I'm not sure if it was put on too tight or the O ring was dry, so I oiled up the O ring when I re-installed it.

You can find what fits real good washer wise, and use an adjustable wrench to crank it.

Thanks for all the input guys. I did manage to get my fil cap off, ground a flat bar down and used an adjustable to crank it. I don't think it should have been that tight though. I'm wondering about the oil, Napa guy said tat 75w-140-GL5 would work, says nothing about GL4 so I guess I'll have to hunt some more. He also said he could get SAE-75W-90.GL4 but only by the case so I passed.
