race cars use nitrogen in tires instead of shop air because;
#1 greater thermal stability,
#2 contains no moisture,
#3 readily available

don't forget, regular air we breath is ~79% Nitrogen

and thatīs the kicker.

aeronautical and racing applications - yep, it has itīs place.

on the road - 10 bucks extra for less than 20% more nitrogen than weīre breathing (because as said, unless you vacuum out all the previous air, itīll be contaminated)and a fancy green valve cap.

iīd rather spend that 10 bucks on the gas you put in the tank - gasoline

Re:Nitrogen filled tires 3 Years ago
At one point I was big skeptic of the claims out there concerning the benefits of nitrogen....as already pointed out, the air we breath is ~79% nitrogen, so how much difference can another 20% make? When I bought new tires for my truck 18 months ago from Costco the tires were filled with nitrogen and I thought here's my chance to see if nitrogen makes a difference. The tires were filled to 50 PSI when they left the shop and the pressure has not changed in over 18 months. I've checked them in the dead of winter as well as the heat of summer, and the pressure has stayed constant. If I had not seen it myself I would not have believed it. While I haven't converted the tires in my R* to nitrogen yet, I plan to do so when time allows.

Until you do it and feel the difference, keep putting the air in your tires every month. It was only $10.00. I've spent more then that on other things that didn't work but this one does.....

Hmmm...just out of curiosity, I wonder if having Ride-On in my tires rules out the possibility of trying it out. Anyone know of any adverse reactions between the two like, oh, say...immediate explosion?

I've been using helium for the last few years with great results, makes the bike lighter which improves performance!

Under the conditions which you are using Nitrogen it is inert.
