Locating the PMS 7 Years ago
From all I've read on this forum, I think I need to adjust my PMS. My problem now is locating it. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Check out the pic on the lower left at:

That's where the PMS is located. On a 'virgin' carb there is a brass plug over top of the PMS. Just use a drill to lightly drill a hole in the top, screw in a screw and pull out the plug. DO NOT drill deeply or you will ruin the top of the PMS. Just drill enough to puncture it.

Also recheck to make sure you are drilling out the right brass plug as, if memory serves me, there's another one just beside the PMS plug.

Good luck,

Doc

Well thanks again! I did the adjustment to the PMS and the first 1/4 turn fixed the problem. There is no more knocking sound. Mid range performance seems to be better as well. I still have a little cough in carb coming off an idle but even that is better. It idles better with less choke time. It's like getting a new bike.

I still have a little lifter tick in the top of the engine - my dealer is adjusting the valves.

Everyone with a RS should take the time to make this adjustment. WOW!

Thanks again to Doc - and everyone else who helped in getting to the bottom of this issue.
