The best advice I can give is to remove that plug, go to the parts store and purchase a spark plug thread chaser that matches the size of our plugs. This advice comes from long experience. Also, I would remove the plug before the bike is ridden again or it may never come out again.

Some grease on the chaser should keep most of the cuttings from falling in the cylinder. If you start with the cylinder at TDC then when you're finished you can hold a vacuum over the outer spark plug hole while you wipe out the hole you've just cleaned.

I hate to ask a dumb question but how do you remove the spark plugs without pulling off the tank? I tried to over the weekend and it doesn't seem possible even with the spark plug tool,

The tank comes off really easy. It will take longer trying to figure out how to do it without pulling the tank than it takes to pull the tank.

although iīve posted it before.......

when fitting plugs, a bit of anti-sieze on the threads, and use a piece of rubber tube about 6" long that slips tightly over the porcelin of the plug to start it. if it goes in cross threaded at first, the rubber will slip before you do damage to the thread.

itīs also is a lot easier than trying to start a plug with a box wrench or plug socket.
