5 Minute Brake Bleed 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Got my new SS brake line yesterday and was looking forward to the long process of bleeding the front brake. Hooked up the line at the MC, filled the reservoir, then remembered I had a cheap vacuum pump bleeder. Using one of the pointed attachments, I pulled a vacuum on the empty brake line and squeezed the lever. Did this once more and the 42" line was bled. Hooked it up to the caliper, changed the adapter to fit on the bleeder. pulled a vacuum and opened the bleeder. Repeated one more time and checked the lever. Solid as a rock. I couldn't believe it, 5 minutes and the brakes were done. Harbor Freight has these bleeders for next to nothing.

HF opened a store in my town last year. They have alot of neat stuff you can only find there. One of my favoreite tools has always been a hand impact driver. great for loosening stuck things. I don't know why but the brakes on my bike weren't that great at first. After I bled them, major improvement. Did you notice any improvement changing to SS brakeline(s)? BOL

You went to a single caliper up front right? Could that be part of the reason why, you don't have to try and get the air to come through the front brake line tee?

I don't know, the single line might be easier to bleed. I even got a big bottle of brake fluid, figuring I would need it to finally get it bled. Shoot, it didn't even take 2 fills of the reservoir. One thing I do notice is now that I am stainless all the way to the caliper, the brake lever is solid as a rock. SS would be a good upgrade for anyone, even if they are not changing their front end. I think changing the rear hose is next.

I changed all mine and noticed a difference. I suspect too that bleeding just a single is why it was so easy. That tee causes havoc with bleeding even with vacuum which I use. I did OK with mine. Love bleeding the rear that's for sure compared to the front.
I got my brake lines from Spiegler with nifty red anodized ends....

I changed mine just before the crash and if you bleed the standard way once you get a little lever if you hold the vere and rock the bike back and forth a few times you end up with a hard lever. It forces the bubbles back up to the resavor. Same with the back too. Now I get to do it all over again on the new bike.
