Process for mounting HD rear wheel 2 Years ago
I had to make a plan for mounting my new rear wheel. I wrote it down thinking it might help others. I did not take the time to creat a drawing although it might maek it make more sense (maybe I will later). I am mounting a HD rotor to an HD wheel. I am using my stock rotor with a RC components rotor adapter.

If anyone sees any issues with the plan let me know.

Thanks

have done. cyberchef doesn't go into detail, but just says you need spacers etc. That is why I wrote this up.

AJ I'm sorry I didn't call you, I've been crazy busy the last 2 days. Anyway, here is how I did it.

Center the rear wheel on the backbone and slide it as far back as it will go in the swingarm. I use a piece of string run down the backbone to a center mark I make on the tire, Do not rely on the line that comes on the tire, it is not always centered. Next run a straight edge from the outside face of the front pulley back to the rear wheel. The straight edge must be perfectly straight, I use a piece of 1x1 aluminum angle. It's tricky because the front pulley has welds on it, but it can be done. Now measure from the straight edge to the hub of the wheel. Subtract 1/4" from that measurement, and that will be where you want the outer edge of your front pulley to be. In my case I need to make a hub spacer about 7/8" to get the rear pulley where I want it. Once the pulley is spaced out on the wheel, double check belt alignment and clearance, then use snap gauges to figure out what size your wheel spacers need to be.
