Clutch spring 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Just thought I would pass this along for those of you that need a new clutch spring due to slippage or thinking about going double-up on the spring.

EBC makes one for the Roadie, and at a very good price, at least here. but doing a search ya might find a better price

I'm not sure what to think about this part, the fitment guide shows that it's compatable with everything from the old Royal Stars to a V-max, there is a delta of about 60 hp on these bikes. It does not say anything about spring rate but I know the OEM spring for a Warroir has a higher spring rate than a OEM Roadstar part. Have you tried one?

Nope, I did not, however, the info was from someone who did use this one. Just thought I would pass the info.

Myself, been running a piggy back with a spring from a Virago1100 for the past 75k miles and still using the stock friction plates at 125k miles. Whats nice about the Virago spring is the diameter is a little smaller, this gives the fingers a little bit of an over lap over the stock spring. And with my set-up on a 1600 at 69.7 hp and 99tq, I have no slippage even using auto Mobil 1 15/50 nor using Rotella 15/40 syn for last 15k miles as well

I would need to know more about the EBC part before I used it, I think. I might see if the company could provide specs. Did the person you know that used it make any comment about lever effort?

Don't think so Jim, about lever effort was posted recently on a thread in the RSR forum. Don't recall in which thread post though. I do read quite a few of postings, so they all kind of blend together.

when you say that you are piggy backing the virago spring on top of the roadstar OEM spring....does it matter which one is in front of the other? ie... as the clutch is disassymbled which would be closest to the outside, or the first to be removed?

JIM,fyi,I HAD READ SOMEPLACE HERE IN RSC WARRIOR HAD SLITGHTLY STIFFER CLUTCH SPRING BUT THEN A COUPLE WKS BACK ANOTHER RSC member said he actually looked up new clutch spring on yamahas website to verify it and found yamaha lists the same exact pt# for warrior clutch spring as the std per R* so to me that killed the notion warrior has stiffer clutch spring.

But i haven't yet verified that for myself.
