Well, I'm well on my way to earning the badge of honor. At first it bothered me, but after a while I decided it showed the owner actually spends more time riding than spit polishing the darn thing.

I just put a tank bra over it. I've seen the clear stuff from 3M.
There is also some stick on panels that look like carbon fiber out there for the tanks.
