To all who were interested in my air cleaner:

I used the following K&N universal air filter:

It fits right onto the mouth of the carb and tightens with a hose clamp. The flange is about 3/4" and I needed to shave off about a 1/4" so it fit tighter because when you tighted the clamp it wanted to slide off the carb. I made a cardboard template for a support bracket, picked up a 6" x 12" piece of sheet metal from Home Depot, cut it with a jig saw, painted with high temp black spray paint and ta-da! I mounted the bracket to the back side of the air cleaner with some recessed sheet metal screws and reused the rubber gromets and screws from my stock air cleaner to mount it to the bike. It takes a little playing around, but its a fun project. I get the look and performance that I wanted and its so tight to the bike that my leg doesn't touch it at all! Of course I ported the manifold and installed a barons jet kit while I was playing around! You can also see that I removed the idle control bracket and relocated it up under my tank.

It looks great yamahawg! I've been trying to decide myself how I want to do mine this winter and now I think I know. I may try the same principal with a universal K&N, though I may use the cone style and make my own elbow. Much Kudos--bump
