When I first signed on here, I was not happy with the performance of the stock bike. I was all set to tear into the engine, and after hearing from some of the guys here I decided to hold off on that and do the easier (and cheaper mods first) I just about got her where I want without internal mods. I like the ability to use regular gas and have the same reliability as a stock engine. I am going to get her on a dyno this comming week or so for some fine tuning on the carb and get a HP & TQ readout

For me, It's time to stop working on it and RIDE It's a short season here and I want to make the most of it.

Everybody's different and that's what makes it great, You can go as far as you (or your bank account)
want to go.

When it comes to making ALOT of horsepower, there is no substitute for "Cubic Dollars"

Have fun, Git-er-Done & Happy Easter, Coot

Forgot to list my Mods. HSR 42 & modified Nemesis manifold to fit the 1700
Dyna Ign. module and coils
Pumpless W/Pingle petcock
Iridium plugs
Mobil 1 V-twin
Bigger battery, wires & chromed HO starter

IMHO bang for the buck is High Compression pistons and Head work. The stock carb will support plenty of torque and most pipes are plenty big enough to let her breathe. The seat of the pants feel comes from a wide torque curve that comes on early and fades about the time the HP curve comes into play. These motors are designed for torque and thats where the gains need to be made. Bigger carbs and tuned pipes usually only show on the Dyno. You can spend 500-1000 dollars and get a really strong bike but it might take 5000 to get a certain number at the Dyno Drags.
