Well, I had NO use for a heel shifter... but, I had been riding without one for 35 years before I ever had one, so what would you expect of an old dog?

I took the shifter out, put it in a vice, hacked off the heel shifter, and then took it to the wheel to grind away any excess, rounding it off real nice. Looks just like it never had one!

And, yeh, the shifter height is fully adjustable.

I don't like the heel shifter either, but I haven't had the guts to cut mine off....yet.

Hack it off and smooth out the rough edges then adjust it. I think I have the one I took off mine in a box, if you find you cant live without it. I purchased a chrome toe shifter off ebay years ago. Thats how I learned to shift. Heel shifting is not natural for me and I have never owned a typewriter.

Can't get your foot under it? Damn buddy your ol lady must be real happy

I can't get used to the heel shift either, takes too long and my foot is already right there to toe shift. So I'll have a little scuff mark on my boot from shifting, at least people will know I actually ride instead of just dressing the part

I actually thought about cutting the heel shifter off and grinding it down for just a toe shift until I got a touch of gout. OUCH!
That heel shifter is pretty handy after all! If I can still walk, I can still ride.

Milateket and I must be the only ones who didn't know the shifters where adjustable. (let alone the brake pedal).

I need to adjust the brake pedal up to fit my boot (Large Boot does not equal Large.... you know).

Amazing what you learn here! (Also didn't know sheep were scared in Seattle).

If you cut the front one off you can flip what was the rear to be the front. This pushes the shifter more forward and give you more foot room on the floor boards. I have longer legs just letting you know hope this helps. Just get some clear polish to coat the piece you cut off and grid.
