Mine crapped out in '09. Seems to be a real problem. Tried cleaning it and got another couple months out of it. Then while on a road trip the float arm came off in the tank and rattled around so I fished it out with a magnet and pitched it. Like erbman, I just use the tripodometer. To cure the blinking light, I opened the speedo & put electrical tape over the light, under the dial face. I'm sure its still blinking away but I dont see it, so its not a problem. Guage always reads empty now.
