Platinum Boarder Posts: 1705 A better thread insert for stripped threads. 10 Months, 1 Week ago   I just had a exhaust stud snap off and had to drill it out. I was going to Heli-coil it when I remembered that we had a thread insert kit where I work. (Honda car dealer.) The brand is Time-Sert. http://www.timesert.com/ Here is a photo comparison of the Heli-coil and Time-Sert. I would say the Time-Sert is a better repair but it does have two drawbacks. The individual kits are about twice the price of Heli-coil kits and they aren't as easily available. Amazon is one source. I get em' from Mcmaster-Carr supply, and if I order today I get em' tomorrow. They come in just about every available thread and a variety of metals.
