Ok, I know some of you have already done this...and I know some of you are looking to do this in the near future...Since it's raining here in SoCal, I decided to do a little write up of my process setting up my fat spoke wheels on my R*. It's not complete, but I can add to is later on next week when I get my pulley & spacer (Part 2). You guys might have another way to do it, but this is how I did it. Oh I'm also not responsible if you attempt this and F'up you R*!! haha! First of all I got the 3/4" axle & rear brake stay from Don @ ldcustombikewurks.com for the set up
Here's rear wheel, DNA Mammoth spoke 16x 3.5" w/ 3/4" bearings and I've got a Metz 880 150/80/16 to be mounted
After stripping the rear apart, I mocked up the wheel in the center. I used the mud/splash guard as a reference and then I put the rear fender on to see how it looked. I then measured the width of the spaces on each side. The pulley side looked kind of weird, but since the HD wheel doesn't use a cush drive like the R*, I figured it was ok...I measure on both side from the edge of the bearing on wheel to the inside edge of the swing arm. On the pulley side I came up with 78mm & rotor side 42mm. I then cut some 3/4"
PVC pipe to these lengths & remounted the wheel to make sure wheel was centered.I used PVC so I could shave them down little by little if need be. But I was pretty spot on w/ the measurements.

I took the PVC pieces to a local machinist I know and told him what I wanted. He cut them for me and I got them the next day (had to bribe him w/ a 12 pk to get it done quicker since he was pretty busy). I used a buffing wheel & some rogue to polish them up really shiny!!
So here's a pic of the spacers installed. I pulled off the stock pulley. I decided to go with a super spoke pulley (Thanks for the tip Slothy). Didn't look right w/ the new wheel.

I don't have any pics of the pulley alignment, but when I get the pulley & spacer next week i'll make sure to take pics when i'm mounting it up. Hopefully this helps you guys out. The front was pretty easy...I did it a few month ago. Pretty much the same thing, but you have to space out the caliper if you plan on using an HD rotor. SOrry it's not complete, but i'm sure by the end of next week part 2 will be done!
