Myself, been running a piggy back with a spring from a Virago1100 for the past 75k miles and still using the stock friction plates at 125k miles. Whats nice about the Virago spring is the diameter is a little smaller, this gives the fingers a little bit of an over lap over the stock spring. And with my set-up on a 1600 at 69.7 hp
and 99tq, I have no slippage even using auto Mobil 1 15/50 nor using Rotella 15/40 syn for last 15k miles as well
