Batteries 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
I've seen quite a few posts about batteries that have failed after 2 or 3 years, even less. I came across this article that could point out one of the reasons. I have yet to experience this and I think it may be because I've always bought the Yuasa dry and added the solution myself.

http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_the_lead_acid_battery

Down in the article it states that some sellers won't accept a shipment of batteries that have an open circuit voltage of less than 2.10 volts per cell. That's 12.60 for one of our batteries. It's supposed to be a little relaxed for AGM batteries but I don't know how much.

Below that voltage sulfation is supposed to start so if you're buying an off the shelf battery it wouldn't hurt to take a voltmeter along and check the voltage.

It also has some good information on peak charging voltages.

Well whatever happened I'm glad you're okay. Had more than a few batteries explode when I was working at the Cadillac dealership in Odessa back in the 70's. Even an AGM can emit gas under certain circumstances.
