Magnetic strip 4 Years, 7 Months ago
For what it's worth. Took a flat magnetic strip (Home Depot 120" $4.97 + tax)and attached it to my workbench top edges. Works pretty good at keeping those small steel screws and such (or whatever has the appropriate magnetic properties) from falling off and hiding in the nether regions of my work area. Also forms a small edge for other non-magnetic small round things to keep them, hopefully, in the area. A refrigerator door strip will work also but it's got a taller profile. Maybe put that on the outside egde of the work area.

One of my winter projects is to build a workbench in the garage. That's a great idea, bompa. Thanks for the tip!

bompa, this is a great idea. As I have spent 11 years in the service (auto) industry, I have tool carts and magnetic trays. I think I may be installing strips on my bench by next weekend. bump.

Strange how these little ideas come to ya sometimes . Thanks for the bump. Glad to be able to contribute what I can to the Clinic. Haven't gotten into the carb or anything yet but, thanks to everyone's input, I'm feeling much braver for the winter redo.
