Boy I don't know how I missed this one..sorry guys...

Map: Your pic looks good..Since the back of the filter is a thick rubber, I used some fender washers on the inside of the filter and secured with nylocs. I prefer extending the crank vent down next to the gas tank vent, but your idea should work fine..

Mulerider17: Thanks for the tip.. I could use a harley part or two on her...guess I need to do some measureing..

Thanks Flashback. I finished up using PL Premium contractors adhesive between the brackets and the back of he filter (I used 2 separate brackets) along with self-tapping screws into the rubber. Installed it and let it set for a few days. It's super secured since the PL Premium sticks to almost anything. That way no nuts on the inside. I really like the way it looks finished up and the bike back together.

Just ordered the K&N RA-066V to give it a try. Love the way it looks and by eliminating the garganchuin oem filter, maybe alow more air back to the rear cylinder for better cooling??? Appreciate the enginuity Mr. Cancilla and all of the follw-up suggestions from the rest of you guys. The application should be fairly easy... Mark

It is fairly simple to do. I used stainless flat stock. Mounted to heads and used bolts with washers on the back side of the air filter.

The project was straight forward. The problem I had was that the mid and high range power on the bike was not there. I adjusted the carb to no avail. Will I have to in stall bigger jets?

Mr. C ... my quick .02, I know it's been out there awhile but thanks for the idea on this filter setup, I'm getting the stuff around to do it also. Good job!

Just out of curiousity before I try this......If the air cleaner assembly doesn't come apart, how do you clean the filter? I have been told that you wash them from the inside out so you don't drive dirt into the filter. How do you do that if you can't get to the inside?

You remove the filter from the bike submerge it into a soap/water solution in something like a large bucket or pan. You swish it around in the soap solution for awhile and then rinse with water. When the filter is off the bike you can use your hose inside the filter to wash out pushing the soap and anything else outward. I like to use tide in my water/soap solution as it breaks down grease rather well.
