Back in the saddle again 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Here I am, getting back to riding after more years than I want to realize. Bought my 2007 RS Midnight fresh out of the box a week ago today ($7800 + fees) and will have 800 miles on by the end of the weekend. Finding I am one of many new riders in the area with the safety course full for the next 5 weeks and its 2 weeks out before I can get the bike in for the 600 mile oil change and check-up. Looks like I'll be doing the 1000 mile check at the same time. Anyway, very happy with the Road Star and as a former Harley driver friend said, "All bikes should be black."

Great rides.

Hey midniteridr...
WOW! What a price on the scoot...!
A lot of us here paid a couple of grand more for our new Stars... So, in order to not make us feel too bad... Go out and buy three thousand dollars worth of accessories and chrome... OK?

Re:Back in the saddle again 3 Months, 2 Weeks ago
Thanks. I spent quite a bit of time over a two week period checking out used bikes on the web... Craig's list, Carsoup, Ebay, etc. Stopped by my local Harley dealer and loved a '03 Heritage Classic Softtail but at over $13,500 not even in the budget. I finally did a search of all Yamaha dealers within 200 miles and then began checking websites one by one. This one had a simple one page website with an Ebay link to their sales. Couldn't believe the price myself so had a knowledged friend go with me to check them out. After putting deposit on the bike I stopped by my local Yamaha dealer but didn't find anything close in price. Much as I like to buy local there were no deals there. I'll have to spend more dollars adding "stuff" but am enjoying the clean lines of the stock bike with only the windshield as an added accessory. I was listening in on the discussion regarding luggage racks. I have access to free parts leftover from a friend's older model Road Star but am finding that his luggage rack won't fit my bike - too long between the license plate and seat bolts.

Great rides.

Thanks and glad to be in group and in Minnesota. BTW your luggage bags aren't stock. Where did you get them? (See, already shopping although I'll have to exclude the studs.)

Great rides.
