Of course you have to make sure you don't have any leaks in the hoses or anything but you should do that anyway. My 2 cents anywho. So that rapid clicking I hear first thing in the morning is a fuel pump? Wow, I had no idea!!! (Oh, leave mine open most of the time. But if it doesn't cause a problem, I'd like to just leave it on. I forgot to turn it on, once. About a mile down the road, the engine coughed, sputtered, and croaked. I reached down, rotated the switch, pulled the clutch and hit the start button, and all was well in my world. I have on occasion left it on, with no problems at all. I have also left it off and started down the road and it started coughing, spudering and died. He turns his off every time he stops, then has to turn it back on while he's riding. I just laugh to myself. I never turn it off, so I "almost" ready to go.   Logged       The administrator has disabled public write access. #110137 davehrn (User) Senior Boarder Posts: 246 Re:Turn petcock off after every ride???? 3 Months ago   you know, I was looking at the service manual and it indicated that there are 2 tests for the fuel pump... one to make sure it pumps when the key is on and one to make sure the fuel stops when turned off... that to me says certain fuel pump failures can be fuel flows when pump is on and fuel flows when pump is off... so you might not know if your pump is going to hold back the fuel... ~G   Logged     Guido & His Bike...
