Thanks to all for the welcome.

One of the things I've always loved about riding is the common brotherhood it cultivates.
Papa Bear - Pueblo, where I live, is about 5k feet above sea level. My bike runs fine around here. But I can get above 7k feet in about 20 minutes where she starts starving for air and you have to crank on the throttle. Get above 9k you just have to stay in lower gears unless you're on the level or headed downhill. I've been over 12k on my quad and you practically have to get off and push at those heights.
Of course you can rejet but that creates other problems when you go back down. (Many of you probably know more about that than me.) Yamaha says the EFI automatically compensates for cold-weather starting and changes in atmospheric pressure. That's where I'm putting my hopes at this point.
As for the jitters over the '08 being the first year for EFI in the
RS, I'm told the Midnight Warrior, which has the same 102" in it, has been EFI for quite some time and has been a steller performer. I don't know why Yamaha waited till '08 to put it on the RS... maybe they didn't want to create problems for the
carb-lover guys and I can understand that. I wouldn't be surprised if EPA soon makes it so that all new bikes have it.
Thanks again for the welcome!
