Hi...Welcome to the clinic...I just went through a deal where I had the same noise thought it was my belt but turned out to be bearings in my rear hub I let it go too long and had to replace the hub...My ride is also a 2002 but it's got over 30,000 miles.There is a lot of knowledge about these scoots on this site...Again Welcome
