Hello, all!

My name is Roger Bown. I love motorcycles and music. I am currently the band director in a Southwest Missouri town. I get my name "tbone_king" because I am also a seudo-professional trombone player.

I bought a Midnight Silverado '05 two weeks ago. I absolutely love it so far, and have learned a great deal on this web site. My previous motorcycle was a Shadow ACE750. I liked that bike, but really have a desire for more torque, more sound, and a smoother cruising ride. The R* really seems to fit the bill.

I had V&H Longshots put on it, and the V&H jet kit, when I bought it. I would really like to remove the AIS if it makes the bike look nicer from the left side. Does anyone have pictures of the left side before/after AIS removal? Also, I will be putting a better breather on it (I'm looking at either the Kury Hypercharger PRO, or a BAK). What are your suggestions?

This is the first time I've EVER posted on a forum, so I trust you guys will tell me if I sound like a moron, right?......

Nice to meet all of you!!

No such thing as a moron around here Tbone

Removing the AIS is a major cosmetic upgrade (in my mind). I don't have a pic that I can grab real easy, but there is a link below my sig that will take you to my website where I documented my bike build. It has some good closeups of the engine, and just about any angle on the bike. My AIS is removed. You could compare those with your bike and get a sense of how much it cleans up the motor.

I also relocated the fuel pump, so the motor is considerably more exposed than it would be on a stock bike. We have GREAT looking motors, very nicely done, and they can stand a litttle showing off.

The two air kits you posted about are both real good. The BAK is something of a de-facto standard that others compare themselves to. So performance with that one is real well known. The HC Pro does well too, and has a look that no other air kit has.

Welcome to the clinic!

I checked out your web site.... kind of scares me. I would like to have a bike that looks like that, but I don't think my wife would go for the expenses. I've seen quite a few people write about hiding credit cards, and I know why.....

You can accessorize the snot out of these bikes!!! Nice ride!

Welcome T-Bone.

You just have to sneak the accessories in 1 piece at a time. That way when the wife see's the new part ya can say "Oh no honey, that was on the bike when I got it". But at a certain point, ya loose and she will catch on. Then ya just swap stories- "A good friend gave me that piece free of charge". As you can see, I have been doing this a while. LOL

Hi, my name is Wil. I live on the east coast of Canada, in New Brunswick.
I own a 99 Roadstar Silverado. The bike runs and sounds great with Cobras and K&N Filter. Always looking forward to checking this website as I've learned a lot since joining. Thx

Post edited by: wil, at: 2005/03/08 21:02

Hi my name is Mike and I have a beautiful 99 Star. I love every inch of her. My wife has name her, "Mistress". Very appropriate. I live in SanBernardino, Ca. Great riding here. If any of you star lovers live near me e-mail me and I'll ride when you say so. Matrix02@att.net. I have had a motorcycle lic. for 33 years and owned many bikes but this is what riding is all about. It isnt about the machine, it's about the ride. And the roadstar is about the ride. I have to laugh when the Harley guys snub me. I deliberately park it at the front door of the Harley dealership. Everyone esle waves or gives me the thumbs up when we pass each other. Anyway keep you wheels down, happy riding.
