Hello to one and all 3 Years ago
Just purchased an 05 midnight roadie, was shipped and i recieved it on friday. I'm looking foreward using all the information i've found on this site while i waited for my bike to arrive.

I do have a question though. Tried to start my bike today, it didn't respond too well, not even a rumble. I could hear the cylinders compressing but no firing. The last time it was started was about 2 weeks ago by the inspector. How hard is the roadstar to start when it sits for a bit?

Mostly a stock cruiser, has vance & hines with a k&n air filter. Don't know about the jetting yet.

Thanks in advance, I look foreward through digging through more of the info on here to learn from the masters.

Nice to have you with us. Sounds stupid, but did you make sure to turn the gas on? These have a reserve tank and petcock.

I did make sure the gas was on, actually switched it to reserve since it's at about 1/4 of a tank.

My 05 midnight could sit all winter and fire right up. I assume you pulled the choke full out? I know these are basic questions, but sometimes it is the simple things that get us.

I tugged it out as far as i could, maybe i'm weaker than i think i am , It cranked over for a couple of turns but no fire. I tried to start it about ten times to no avail. May have to check the spark but two weeks isn't that much time for things to go wrong. course who knows.

Spary some starter fuild on the air filter. If it starts you may have a fuel issue. If not then tends to be electrical. when you first turn the key on and the kill switch in the morning do you hear the fuel pump kick in?

Spray a little starting fluid in the carb. If it fires, it's a fuel problem, if it still won't do anything, it's the ignition. Let us know what you find.

I'll have to listen tomorrow when i try it again. Where is the fuel pump located?
I'll try the starter fluid tomorrow as well.

Hopefully it's warm enough to take it out tomorrow its been in the 30's lately, feels warm when the sun shines.

Fuel pump is behind the chrome cover next to the petcock. If it's working, you can hear it click when you first turn the switch on. Btw,
