Alright, i tried the starter fluid today, took off the air filter and blew it into the carb. Turned it over and it started on the second compression. Seemed to run fine after that. I shut her down after about two minutes. Started without the fluid and again it fired right up.

I checked the oil in the upper reservoir and it registers empty. Oil splashes on the stick when it starts (or attempts to start) but there is very little in that upper reservoir. I'm not real familiar with the semi-dry sump system, how long does it generally take to pump the oil back into the upper reservoir after the bike has been sitting for a long period of time? I know yamaha recommends 15 minutes of drive time, but i wanted to make sure i had sufficient oil before i went cruising all over the neighborhood.

Thanks again for the help, nothing better than the sound of a new bike running. Huge sigh of relief

DON1989: I bought me a 2008 road star silverado 1700 on new years day road it home about 18 miles when it was about 35 outside and still loved it!!! also pretty excited about finding this site
