These bikes are low rpm torque monsters. Thats why folks love them so much. They are never working very hard.

Since RPMs are rarely above 5000 due to limiters in the ignition, they never really get into a good range for developing top end HP (5250 and above if I remember correctly). But you will have a hard time slowing them down even going two up. Its a lot more laid back driving style than with higher reving bikes.

So you won't be short power at any speed, but the measured hp is low. Look to the torque numbers instead and realize you don't have to get the rpms up very high to get the power you want.
