The hypercharger is something you get used to. Your right leg does not hug the tank like it would with most other air cleaners. I love my hypercharger (very customizable, can change the look (butterflies, trap door, trap door covers (http://www.stargis.net/webslinger/CutomHypercharger.htm) (literally anything you want), kury hyper streamliner, kury stinger trap door, even led lighted covers (infinity streamliner)). I can change the look of the hypercharger in less than 5 minutes. Can't do that with any other air cleaner.

I put the hypercharger on about 6 months after getting the bike. The power is noticeable over stock, but you have nothing to compare it to unless you had a stock air box or road a stock R*. Remember, these bikes are not made for speed. They are made for cruising & touring. They have the power you need for that. Just enjoy it. The bike is very reliable. I've had mine for 5 years and have had no problems other than a bad stator. BTW:

1999-2003: 1600 (ensure tranny recall done)
2004: 1700 (first year of the 1700, famous for SVS problems with the rear jug, but I've never had the problem. Think they put stronger springs in 2006 or 2007 to alleviate the SVS problem. Yami may not warranty SVS issues, though it is fixable)
2005: 1700 (Yami added more powerful charging system though its still pretty weak)
2008: 1700 (Yami replaced carb with fuel injection)
