Tim! Retired Navy here. I won't say anything against the CG, I still like to boat in the Great Lakes, and the CG can be our life savers!

You wouldn't believe how many people find this site because of the seat! If Yami ever fixes that, we will lose 1/2 or our new members.

I would hold off on the Mobil 1 until you get the recalls done. Don't just take it to ANY Yami dealer, let us know where you are and we can tell you which one in your area is better than another. We have lot's of experience with them as well.

Shoot me an email address and I can shoot you a pdf copy of the manual for a 1600. You can private message me with the email address if you want.

Yes 4 qts is the way you want to go. Don't forget about the gear oil too it should be changed every 8k if I remember right. It's in the manual.

I did the same thing with the seat.

Stocked. . my e-mail address is Tim.L.Voso@uscg.mil (they hired me to work on their computers! actually I work for Ross Perot's son) and thanks!

Darn. . .I'm about 50 miles East of St. Louis. . .Closest Yami dealer is in Nashville IL
Dealer's name is Holzhauer Auto & Motorsports Group. This recall is this something they need to break the case on?? If so should I also have them upgrade the oil pump gear as well?? Just wondering since I should hold off on changing the oil till this has been correct. . .Also I'd like to get this done as soon as possible. . .I don't have a mark next to the VIN number on the forks so I'm assumeing the recall has not been done.

Couple more questons (I did mention that I'm a newbie, right?). . .as stated I also have a 650 V* classic. .I had a problem in the past with Carburator "gunk up" and had to have them cleaned. I didn't run the gas out of them. . .dealer didn't say anything to me about that and after a short 'conversation' they made it right (Mother-In-Law had a stroke 1 week after I bought it so we were in Ohio for about 3 weeks) ANYWAY. Is this a problem with the R*?? And is there a way without getting into the carbs to make sure it's jetted. . . .Bike has Bubs on it. . .it is a little 'fumey'

Yes, it's a good time to upgrade the oil pump. I will leave it out there for locals in your area to recommend or not a dealer in that area for you.

Use SeaFoam in your gas about 3-5 oz every other or third tank full. Good stuff! You can buy it at Wally World for around $6-$8. I never used it before I joined this site, now I use it in all my mowers, weed wackers, leaf blowers, truck and car. Good stuff in my book!

You could start a new thread "Good dealership needed"
