No, I havent checked for leaks, thanks. You are talking about leaks at the 'manifold' where the pipes connect to the bike Yes ? ill look to see if the need to be tightened

As far as the AIS goes, I followed the diagram that I found on this site which essentially manipulates the hoses. Again, I think I have this correct. I assume what your saying is that your method is another way to kill the AIS. I can redo this to the way you are suggesting tonight. But with what you are suggesting, you do nothing with the 'third' hose that comes off the pump correct ?

No, the pipes are not new, the previous owner put them on at the time of purchase in '04.

I wonder if I am making more out of this than needed. The backfires are not vicious, but are present.
