Hope you didn't go by the owner’s manual for the amount of oil you put in. If you did it to full only use 4 quarts of oil in these things no matter what any body tell you. Yamaha even put out a bulletin about it. Put the first wo quarts in start the engine a run for a few seconds then add the next two. As for checking the oil with the dip stick forget it you will never get the same reading twice. Just put 4 quarts in and ride it. As long as you have no oil spots under the bike don't worry about it.
