I go by "Zinger" as a member of Southern Cruisers Riding Club, Loudoun County Chapter #152. Bought my 2004 R* January 2010 the day we started getting our second blizzard last winter here in the DC area.
There are some photos here that I took of the bike in late February when that snow had mostly melted. At that time I had only added the extended sissy bar, since the Corbin seat I negotiated into the deal interfered with the original, and the matching driver backrest. Since then I have added passenger floorboards, windshield bullets, an OEM luggage rack, a Kuryakyn Run-Turn-Brake controller, and my old Garmin GPS Nuvi. Passing lamps have been on order since mid-March and the mounting bar has been back-ordered by Yamaha until August!!
My last bike was a 1981 Yamaha 650 Maxim, purchased new, which I sold for money to get married in '83. Prior to that, my first bike was a 1971 Honda 750 K1 (bought in '74). Been waiting since 1983 (yep, about 27 years) to get back into this "sport" and found this almost pristine '04 R*. Seems it really is just like riding a bicycle...came right back.
I'm looking forward to sharing my experiences with you folks as well as learning what makes this thing tick. Maybe someday I'll get thirsty and beef-up the fuel system and engine a bit. I think the next thing on the agenda will be getting a stiffer progressive rear spring as the stock one is just too weak for my liking (we ride two-up a lot).
See you around...
Bruce
