Re:Please introduce yourselves!! - Again 5 Years, 2 Months ago
Haven't been keeping up with RSR in the last few months so I just stumbled onto your website today. Its nice to have another.

Gram - Like you, I was in the computer biz for about 17 years before a layoff 3.5 years ago. Since, I have been a house husband and now old enough to retire.

I guess my first two-wheel ride was a small scooter (smaller than a Cushman) that I bought probably about '56 or '57. I bought my first bike on Jan 2, 1961which is the dead of winter in Wisconsin. Learned to ride it on icy streets in 0° weather. It was a '56 Triumph Thunderbird that had been to California for customizing. Red metal flake like most every custom car of the era. It was "used" in every sense of the word. I kept it until Spring, sold it and bought a new Honda 305 Superhawk.

I rode motocross back in the mid-70s on a 250 Bultaco Pursang and a Husqvarna CR250. I owned probably what was the first muscle bike; a Kawasaki Z1. Another fast bike of the time; the Yamaha XS-Eleven Special.

I settled down then and owned the first year ('83?) Yamaha Venture Royale and later an '87.

I moved to Arizona in '97and am now on my 13th and 14th bike. My 13th is a Kawasaki KZ100P (the police bike) which I ride as a member of the Maricopa County Sheriff's Dept. Motor Posse. I hear the laughing now but Sheriff Posses are alive and well in Arizona. My county has something like 56 of them.

And last but certainly not least, my '02 Roadstar Silverado. Few mods - Thunder Mfg. air cleaner, HardKrome 2-into-1 Sideburner, ported intake, 31 tooth front sprocket, passing lights and Yamaha (Corbin) Dual Tourer seat. Sorry, the pic wouldn't post. Said it was too large.

I am planning to see you at the Southwest Garage Sale. I have a wedding in Huntington Beach that weekend.

Best of luck with your new career. I was in real estate for 7 years ('71-'78).

SunLaker,

Welcome.

I notte that your pic is on your C: drive. You need to put it on a server somewhere so the site can access it.

Screwed that last entry up so I'll try this again.
I'm Steve. Used to ride a Harley which is why I now drive a Roadstar. 52yo retired US Army MSG. Still screwing around w/computers for the gov't. Two more years and I'm taking whatever marbles I have left and retiringn permanently to Tucson. Right now I'm living in the Northern Virginia area and hating every minute of it. My bike is my only sanity. Greeting to all.

Hello All

My name is Steve Kay

I'm 48 and live in Riverside CA. I currently have 6 bikes but 3 are Honda Motorscooters. My main rides are a 2000 Roadstar and a 2003 ZX6RR. I also have a R6 Race Bike that's being put back together after a nasty mishap. I've owned nearly 200 motorcycles since I started riding in 1967. I'm the CFO and one of the owners of a battery manufacturing company. We build 10,000 batteries per day from our 3 plants in the USA. Our bigger customers include Interstate Battery (they don't build batteries) Delphi, Yamaha and GM. I'm obviously way addicted to bikes. I look forward to hanging out here.

Best Regards!

Steve,

Welcome home.

Can tell from your handle (ZX6) which bike is your favorite

Seems like if I have a battery question that you're the man.

Hey Doc

Beautiful Bike!

I'm actually starting to enjoy the Roadstar more. The sportbikes are so uncomfortable over any kind of distance. My ZX6RR kills my wrists. My wife thinks I need to grow up. Thanks for the welcome!

Thanks for the comp.

"sportbikes are so uncomfortable"

It's not the wrists for me but my neck. I have a couple of compressed disks and would not be able to 'do' the lean forward/head up postion.

Your wife should know that men never grow up .... they just get sillier.
