Hello, ex harley rider here. Got back into riding after a twenty five year break to raise a family. This past weekend a friend and I rode from our homes here in eastern CT. to the White mountains of New Hampshire. I on my new RoadStar midnight and my friend on his 03 Harley Fatboy. Both bikes performed flawlessly. At one point my friend insisted that we switch bikes as he was anxiuos to try the RoadStar and I must admit, the Fatboy was much smoother than I expexted. It handled well and felt good. My friend had the same comments about my roadie. Two difference to note though. The RoadStar is clearly more powerful and even though we both fueled up at the same time, he would be signaling that he was in need of refueling while my roadie was just a little under half.
It has been over thirty years since I rode a motorcycle up Mt. Washington and I don't remember it being sooo scary. I must be getting too old for that but for the other five hundred miles, the music from my stage one modified pipes was music to my ears.
Ride safe everyone.

Welcome back to riding Jack Glad you choose the R*.
In spite of all the brand loyalty, you've noticed that the bike doesn't make much difference.... the bugs taste the same.

Did the manifold, jetting and ign after getting the bike at christmas.Ride whenever I get the chance.Communications tech in the Houston Tx area. Think the roadie the best bike I've owned since I got rid of a 73 norton(big mistake). Off to work on the planning.

Welcome to the site desolbones. I hope you find it as helpful and entertaining as I have. I liked my Harleys, but what I liked about them is precicely why I like my Roadstar. A big, thumping, tons of torque, mid-life crisis machine. This weekend I'll be helping a friend get an old Norton back on the road. I remember trying to kick that Norton over back in the seventies. It was tougher than the panhead I had at the time.
