Greetings from Richmond, VA. Purchased my bike back in December, it had 10,900mi at the time and was in stock configuration except for Kuryakyn ISO Grips with Throttle Boss and the driver and passenger backrests. This is my second bike, the first one was a Honda Shadow Aero 750cc which I had for only a couple of months back in 2008. (got bored and sold it) Had a chance to sit on a Roadstar around that time and have been hooked ever since, and after 3 long years of drooling and whining to my wife every time we passed a motorcycle she has relented (Hallelujah!) and I have been burning up the roads of Virginia for the last 3 months. (1400mi so far)

My first challenge was finding a safe place to keep the bike. We live at an apartment complex with uncovered parking. So I bought a 6'x14' trailer, and realized it may just be big enough to create my own little workshop. Using the tech articles from Road Star Clinic, I have been a very busy boy. The first project was the Stage One Mod for the stock exhaust. Next I removed the AIS System and was thankful for the article that described how to remove the fuel tank. Of course I also removed the rattle in the fuel tank by installing the rubber washers.

Next I saw an ad on Craigslist for a set of Baron Nasty Boy "Wicked Curves" from LA Choppers Exhaust, and wouldn't you know it, they also came with a Baron's Big Air kit. Since I plan on getting caught in the rain every now and then I also purchased the RAINCOAT (for the filter) from Baron's for an extra $20. I installed the pipes this week and am pleased with the results. Two cons to report: 1. the scalloped family jewels exhaust tips scrape in aggressive right turns, and 2. at idle the pipes emit a high pitched staccato type squeal (bip bip bip). I took the bike by the dealership and they confirmed that there were no exhaust leaks, and in their opinion that is just how the pipes sound. I am hoping that when I rejet the noise will disappear. Incidentally, while the bike is running a bit on the lean side, it has not been backfiring 99% of the time, and performance is excellent.

I also built myself an inexpensive bike stand, though mine came to $50 not $15. (must've heard wrong ) The stand came in handy when I installed my DK Risers from Baron's this morning, and the extra 2" of pullback are a dream come true. Lastly I will attempt to post some pics, and hope that they will make it through whatever snowstorm plagues this forum.

it's not the pipes making that weird noise, it's the jewel tips that are making the god awful noise.
I've got the old school baron nasty pipes and loved the sound. We are talking bad ass loud I wasted my money on those jeweled tips and now my cool bike sounds like its farting in a tin can. I complained to baroncustom and they just snickered at me.
If you want the pipes to sound bad assed then remove the tips.

This is exactly why I absolutely LOVE this forum. Thank you for the insight
and the tin can reference (priceless !LOL!) I will remove them ASAP and see
if it makes a difference.
