Re:Please introduce yourselves!! - Again 6 Years, 2 Months ago
Greetings RS forum. My name's Dan and I purchased the 06 Road Star midnight silverado a couple of months ago. I've been riding for over 20 years and decided to get a bigger bike after having rode a Harley for a few years. Yes I traded my Harley for a RS. I wanted a bigger bike, suitable for longer, comfortable cruising and after much contemplation, and shopping I finally let go of the Harley apron strings. This RS is not my first Yamaha, I had a nice 650 heritage special back in '83.
I've managed to put about 400 miles on this bike between the snow flakes here in SW Illinois and must say, so far, I'm totally satisfied with this machine. The ride is very comfortable, plenty of power, easy to handle and looks great. I look forward to many years of trouble free riding and the comaraderie of you fellow Road Star riders! Take care and if you're ever in the metro St. Louis area give me a call and we'll ride!

Greetings, fellow Road Star riders/tinkerers. Name's Owen, I bought a 2000 Roadie in October 05. Quite the adventure: I bought it on eBay, it was in Santa Cruz, CA and I live in the Seattle, WA area. I flew down one-way and rode it back, 900 miles on a bike I'd never ridden. I managed to ride through the California Redwoods to the Pacific Coast and up along the coast part way through Oregon. I'd do it again, too! That is, as long as the bike is a Road Star and it has a Corbin Stinger on it! LOL

My first bike was (is) a Honda Shadow 750 ACE.

Greetings Dan.

Not much on the Clinic for an '06 rider but you're welcome here.

We'll all be looking to you for 'expertise' on any '06 issues.

Welcome to the Clinic Bullit.

We have the same year bike but I never notice that colour combo when I bought mine.

Not sure if you are aware but the 2000's had a problem with the oil pump shaft. It would be a good idea to find out if the previous owner had replaced it.

Hope you enjoy you ride for many years; I certainly enjoy mine.

(counting the days before I'm back on the road)

"I never notice that colour combo when I bought mine"

Ya caught me. It's custom. I just had the paint done a couple months ago - it used to be all black with a silver and gray pinstripe. The color didn't come out like I wanted it - too yellow and too light - but at least it's unique. And I'm thinking of changing the stripe from the double line off-white to a single 1/4" silver.

Funny thing, after changing the color my bike is screaming out for more chrome! Not to mention WW tires. But the Metzler's on it are going to last a long time.

Yeah, I read on the RSR forum something about the oil pump shaft. Also the "spinning starter" problem. So far, so good though. Runs like a very loud top.

By the way, I love your bike! I'm thinking of putting in a bid on a BAK like yours, the smooth one, on eBay. He's selling it including the K&N so it's worth something. I've got the flame pattern (I painted it black but didn't like that so I took it back to chrome) and I just don't care for it, personally.

Re:Please introduce yourselves!! - Again 6 Years, 2 Months ago
Newbie Introduction: My name is Brad and this week I'm livin a dream. Two days ago I purchased my first motorcycle a 2002 Road Star Silverado. Never planned on buying a motorcycle until my dad showed up a couple of months ago on a HD Deuce. I took it for a couple hour spin and have had the fever ever since. At first I was drawn to the Softail Heritage but felt sick when I saw the price. Then I read the following article:

http://www.motorcyclecruiser.com/roadtests/bt99/index.html

Even though the article was several years old it sent me on the hunt for a Road Star. After months of looknig I found a nice 99 model but three days before making the purchase the guy sold it out from under me. The very next day I found the 2002 for sale about an hour from where I live. I called the dealer and told them I had cash, trailer and helmet and they were standing between me and my first ride. The guy cut me a great deal on the phone and the rest was history.

You guys got a great site, lots of good info and I look forward to talking Road Star.

Yes, I've checked out the dephi forum, thanks. Also, like the new Star Motorcycle Garage Sale forum.
