Hello from an old Arkie! 10 Months, 1 Week ago
Hello!

I happen to be one of the 'guests' that keep lurking off to the side reading all the interesting discussions and projects that go on here and felt the need to join and share a little info. I have a 2003 Midnight Roadstar, mostly stock, purchased new in 2003 and have an issue I wanted to share with the forum.

On a recent three day ride in northern Arkansas with my wife we noticed the bike felt to be bottoming out really easily, something it hasn't been doing. I thought the shock must have given it up after 61000+ miles but futher review shows the rear shock mount on the frame has failed as described on other posts here. Mine hasn't comletely broken but is well on its way, bent, cracked and deformed.

I wanted to let folks know that you need to take a look at this from time to time. It doesn't appear that the issue is limited to pre 2000 models and been fixed on later models, at least not on this 2003 model.

Also, I wonder if anyone else in the central Arkansas area has had this failure and gotten the frame welded? If so, I'm looking for a good welder.

Grumpy from Texas. If you were close I would do it. Most muffler shops have welders I am sure one of them could fix it.
