Hello to All!! My Name is Joe Yakabowskas and I live in Seymour, Connectict. I have been married for twenty years and have four children. My occupation is Engineer in a Quality Control enviroment. I am approximately 47 years old ;>

. That is 29 years old with 18 years experience.;>}
My 2007 Roadie Silverado is my 4th motorcycle. Others have been: 1980 Kawasaki 440 LTD, 1982 Yamaha 750 Virago, 1985 Yamaha 1000 Virago. I sold the '85 Virago to buy the Roadie. 22 Years old and the '85 Virago was running like a top. That's why I stick with Yamaha. Reliability. IMO Yamaha has the best looking bikes. Even though they are all starting to look alike. I actually went to the dealership to buy another V-Star 1100. I had new pipes (Double D's) put on along with Hypercharger. The bike sounded and looked sweet. The day I went to put the deposit on that bike, I sat on the Silverado and thought it was too big. A big part of me wanted to upgrade to a bigger bike. My sales guy asked if I wanted to take it for a ride before we did the paperwork on the V-Star. I didn't have one mile on the test drive and I said "This is MY bike." For an extra $23 a month the Silver/Blue Silverado was mine. Before I would take the bike, I told the sales man I wanted the solid rims, not the spokes. The rest is history. I absolutely LOVE my Bike. I bought it in February and picked it up at the end of March. The first day I put 250 Miles on her. Per my wife, like many here, she is also my mistress. Hey, at least my wife knows where to find me (In the garage wiping her down). This year I put 3,000 miles on her. It would have been more but I had knee surgery that kept me off her for four weeks.
The two modifications I have made on her is I put on Lindby Engine Guards, They look nice. This week I modified the exhaust system per the directions (Stage 1) found on this website. So far it sounds very nice. My desire is to have the strong sound of the V-twin Engine without it being overbearing or annoyingly loud. The V-Twin has a character all it's own, and when tuned just right between volume and sound, it's like music to my ears. I love the sound of a well tuned V-Twin Engine. She is now put away for the winter and I work on her every weekend, cleaning ans shining, getting her ready for next spring.
I am now it the process of planning a ride to Colorado this Spring/Summer. I have a friend out there and he wants me to come out and ride some of those mountians. I would like to get some other people involved and go out as a group. I am thinking a week to ten days there and back. I think that would be an excellent ride. Anybody interested, let me know, dates are wide open and all are welcome.
I found this site last week and joined immediately. I was warmly welcomed and found the site very informative. What is better than belong to a site with people who have the same passion and motorcycle as me. Since I joined, I have hit this site almost every day. The people on this site are friendly and very knowledgable about the Roadstar. I am looking forward to meeting some of these people in person and riding with them. Roadstars as far as the eye can see. That would be awesome. I also belong to the Southern Riders Club, I have taken several rides with the all over the Northeast. They are an excellent bunch of people. All bikes and people are welcome and riding is at a good pace. I look forward to riding with them this spring/summer. Well this is getting long so ....Ride Safe.
Newbie,
RaiderJoe (Joe Yak)
