Greetings, I'm Tom. I started riding when I was 8 years old on a 1968 DT125 Yamaha. My brother would sit on the back and get me going - then stand up and I would ride out from under him.

Over my 41 years of riding/racing I have owned several Yamahas, KTMs, Huskies, a Penton even a few Suzies. Currenty I have an 04 Roadie, an XS650 and Harley Baja (don't know what year).

I work as software designer but ride every chance I get (generally 75mi per day). I photograph bikes wherever I see them and play guitar in a blues band for grins. The full picture I used for my avatar shows me holding a beer and a guitar and the shirt reads " Bikes, Beer and Rock N Roll. It seemed fitting.

Well this is my first introduction to everybody, since I just joined today.

My name is Matt. I am 8 days away from being 27 years old. I'm currently in Northern California, but have hopes of moving myself back east within the next year. I don't have a wife or kids, so no stories to share there. I work as a project manager for the county that I live in, dealing with remodels, additions, new buildings. I grew up watching my Dad ride dirt bikes. I got my start in the dirt when I was in my late teens. It quickly bored me, and I went to the street. My first bike was a 2001 V-Star 650 brand new. I rode it for little over a year and basically outgrew it. I sold it and spent the next couple years renting different Harleys from time to time to get used to bigger bikes. When it came time to buy one, I went back to a Yamaha because I knew I'd get my money's worth, and the style of the Road Star is just awesome. I wouldn't trade it for anything else out there. I've done a few things to it, and I have a few more on my list, but overall it will probably remain stock in appearance. Why mess with success?

Hello from Minnesota everyone.

I just traded in my ACE Deluxe on a 2006 Roadstar Silverado 1700. Only had it a few days and will be taking it in for the 600 mile service Monday. Like every other rider with a new bike I went looking for a source of &quot;Been there, Done that&quot;. I belonged (still do) to a site for the ACE and there was (Are) alot of good people there ready to help and share ideas. After reading through the posts here I can see I've scored again.

Hey Musky, I just sold my ACE Deluxe 750. It was my first bike and served me well but in October I bought a 2000 Road Star and after riding it for a while, the ACE felt like a tricycle! I've been doing mostly cheap mods to the Road Star but also had it turned from monochrome black to two-tone. I'm a fan of the classic look, maybe due to my advanced age.

When I had a starting problem with the ACE I found the forum of Canadian owners and posted a question. The people there were very helpful and one pointed me to the web site for the bike. Solved my problem with a simple carb adjustment!

I'm out in Washington state - western Washington, where it rains so much. Although Seattle didn't make the top ten cities in the US for rainfall, we had a really wet winter and spring so I haven't gotten in much riding yet this year. But with the price of gas what it is, I find reasons to ride the bike and leave the van at home.

As a few of you that have responded to a few of my previous posts though, we all know I may be able to chase down an intermittant short through an electrical system that has 72+ active control modules, but carb's are alien to me, so I'm loving this forum to get advice and tech tips

I learned to ride when I was 15 on a friend Honda Shadow he had and was more scared than having fun most of the time because I was terrified I'd lay it down and he'd kill me. I currently own a 2005 Midnight Star that I just bought brand new a few days ago and I love it, I've been riding it non-stop since I bought it.

Yeah, the 750 ACE site I belong to is out of Canada too. It's run by PlaneCrazy. Don't know if it's the same site. I would have kept my ACE if I could have swung the deal without trading it in. I had done alot of work on the bike to make it just what I wanted but we riders are a fickle lot. There's alway a new toy waiting to lure us in. I just went to the bike shop to get 6 dollar can of chain lube and ended up with the Roadstar. And a can of chain lube

That you don't need now! Actually, that stuff's handy to keep around - works okay as a lube when you're drilling steel.

I thought about keeping my ACE for around town but decided that would be a waste. I paid cash for both bikes (my mother would be turning in her grave if she knew I spent part of my inheritance on motorcycles!) so payments weren't an issue but I wanted to recoup the money I spent on the ACE for my daughter's college fund. And I figured October and November wouldn't be a good time to be selling, I'd wait until spring. I advertised it and got nothing until the sun came out, then suddenly everyone wants one! I sold it to a guy who's in the Navy, his first bike.

All I put on the ACE was a cheap little windshield, cheap little saddlebags and expensive little Kuryakyn ISO pegs with heel rests. I knew I wasn't going to keep it long so why spend a bundle on it? The Road Star I think I'll keep a long time.

I had a Shadow before the R* and loved the realiabilty of the bike.
